Growing Together: Our Partnership with Loyola University's Nursing Program

Some of our strongest support at COPE comes from an unexpected place: Loyola University's nursing school. What started as a partnership built on student mentors and tutors has grown into something even bigger this year.

An Expanding Partnership

This year, our relationship with Loyola expanded to include Population & Health Nursing students, joining our existing base of Loyola student mentors and tutors. It's a natural fit — nursing students bring the same care, patience, and people-first mindset to mentorship that they bring to their coursework.

Meeting Our Newest Mentors

A big part of this year's growth came from Loyola's Serve Fair, where our team connected with students eager to get involved. We had a great time meeting them, and thanks to the support of Loyola staff who welcomed us back to the fair again this year, we brought on a wave of new mentors as a result.

Why This Partnership Matters

Nursing students already know how to show up for people — that's the heart of what they're training to do. Bringing that same energy into mentorship means our mentees get consistent, caring adults in their corner, and Loyola students get real, meaningful experience connecting with the community they'll serve as future nurses.

Looking Ahead

We're excited to keep building on this relationship — matching our newest Loyola mentors with mentees, and continuing a partnership that benefits everyone involved: our mentees, Loyola's students, and the broader New Orleans community.

Thank you to Loyola University for continuing to partner with us and for the students who show up ready to make a difference.
