Mentor Role

Our mentors help to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing one-on-one relationship.

  • Serve as a positive role model, friend, and advocate

  • Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together

  • Strive for mutual respect

  • Build self-esteem and motivation

  • Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them

Mentor Participation Requirements

Be at least 21 years old; however exceptions may apply (i.e. college students)

Reside in either the Greater Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston area, or Dallas area

Be interested in working with young people, ages 10-18 years old

Be willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures

Every young person deserves someone in their corner. As a COPE mentor, you'll build a one-on-one relationship that helps a youth build confidence, set goals, and see a brighter future. It takes just a few hours a month to change a life.
